Make your own Children’s Bible

This project offers children the unique opportunity to engage at an early stage in their lives in Bible reading by stimulating them to use their creativity.

Through this project we want to offer all Sunday Schools, Schools, and Child Care Centers a valuable book to be used in their Bible reading program.

Leaders will stimulate all the children, to read the Bible while practicing what almost all children like: drawing and coloring.

To implement this project the Bible Society in the Netherlands Antilles will use the book ‘Make your own children’s Bible’ originally from the German Bible Society. A second print-run of this book will be distributed to Sunday schools, schools and not for profit foundations working with children.

Beneficiary focus
This project will benefit;

1. Children attending Sunday Schools

2. Primary School kids

3. Children at Child Care Centers

4. Not for profit foundations working with children

National Context
The Ministry of Education is currently working on what is called ‘education after regular hours’, through which it seeks to introduce activities related to culture or sport as a compulsory subject. Another proposal is to extend the school day until five in the afternoon, but this would be quite costly since doing so would involve hiring more teachers.

This project address the lack of after-school activities by offering a program for after school.

Need
Almost all Churches especially the Protestant and the Full Gospel Churches have a Sunday School for kids. These Sunday schools, however, lack good and sufficient materials to effectively present God’s word to the kids.

With these books teachers will have a valuable tool to support storytelling, but they can also analyse whether the children had really understood the story based upon their drawings.

By presenting this project through personal visits, the Bible Society will have another opportunity to make Churches aware of our mission as servant of Churches.
